Guardian Angel: Childhood Final Page
First Holy Communion. This moment is the greatest moment of our girl's life. This complete communion with Christ sacrificed for her is the primary goal of her guardian angel in her life; a task given to him (if you remember) in the beginning of the story. Christ, the Son of God has waited for this moment with each of us from all eternity. All of our faith, all of our lives, and all of the history of man find their source and summit in the Sacrifice of the Mass.
"If we really understood the Mass, we would die of joy." - Saint Jean Vianney
"The celebration of Holy Mass is as valuable as the death of Jesus on the cross." - Saint Thomas Aquinas
"It would be easier for the world to survive without the sun than to do without Holy Mass." - St. Padre Pio
"Everyday, Jesus humbles himself just as He did when He came from His heavenly throne into the Virgin’s womb; everyday He comes to us and lets us see Him in abjection, when He descends from the bosom of the Father into the hands of the priest at the altar." - St. Francis of Assisi
"When you look at the crucifix, you understand how much Jesus loved you then. When you look at the Sacred Host, you understand how much Jesus loves you now." - Mother Teresa of Calcutta
"There is nothing so great as the Eucharist. If God had something more precious, He would have given it to us." - Saint Jean Vianney
The Eucharist is Christ himself. What more can be said? The highest peak of our lives is when we, in a state of grace, receive Christ in the Eucharist. And it is not a one way street. The girl waits to receive Christ into her soul, to tabernacle Him within herself - and He waits, sacrificed, to come to her. The Mass is a foretaste, a communion of heaven with earth. St. Gregory, St. Augustine, and St. John Chrysostom tell us that at Mass, the heavens open and multitudes of angels come to assist the priest and worship.
"The Mass is infinite like Jesus. . . Ask an angel what the Mass is, and he will reply to you in truth,"I understand what it is and why it is offered, but I do not, however, understand how much value it has."- St. Padre Pio
So wonderful, that its value is even beyond the comprehension of the angels.
This is the final page of Guardian Angel: Childhood. Next week Mo will begin posting a comic featuring St. Moses the Black.
-Meagan
P.S. I put Christ's heart in the priest to show who really offers the sacrifice.
To answer a question - Guardian Angel: Childhood was designed, drawn and water-colored by me, Meagan. Mo and I work separately on the Saints and Angels comics, and then jointly on the "On The Grapevine" comic. :) I used a photograph for the top of the page, 2 pages of watercolor, and images from previous pages. I combined and blurred everything in this page in individual layers using Deviantart Muro.
