Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta
On the Grapevine 32
"By blood, I am Albanian. By citizenship, an Indian. By faith, I am a Catholic nun. As to my calling, I belong to the world. As to my heart, I belong entirely to the Heart of Jesus."
Mother Teresa (who took St. Therese of Lisieux as her namesake) desired to become a missionary and joined the Sisters of Loretto. She was sent to India, and it was there that she received her "call within a call" to be a victim of Christ's love, who would radiate His love to the poorest of the poor. She founded the Missionaries of Charity to "quench the infinite thirst of Jesus on the cross for love and souls" by serving the poorest of the poor. She also founded the Corpus Christi movement for priests. Mother Teresa spent her life and labour in poverty serving and witnessing to the great dignity and worth of every human being, the love and thirst of Christ for us, and the call to do all things with love for Him. You can read much more about her HERE.
Mother Teresa was especially fond of distributing miraculous medals, and was rarely daunted by anything. The story featured in this comic was told to me by Mother Elizabeth of the Trinity at Holy Name Carmel in Denmark, WI.

"Make us worthy, Lord, to serve our fellow men throughout the world
who live and die in poverty and hunger. Give them through our hands this day
their daily bread and, by our understanding love, give peace and joy.
