Venerable Anne de Guigne
On The Grapevine 46
I could not get my sketch to upload onto the program I use to color it in. . . and I am already four days late in uploading this, so you get it in black and white. When Anne de Guigne was 6 years old, her brother Jacques broke her beautiful new doll. She was at first angry and upset, then, pulling herself together, said - "It is better so. I can make the sacrifice of Abraham."
Venerable Anne De Guigne reminds me of Therese of Lisieux. Although she was somewhat spoiled, selfish and proud at the beginning of her life, at the age of four her father died fighting in World War I. Anne decided then and there to do all things to please and console her mother after the loss of her husband, and Christ rewarded her with a deep love of Himself. By the time she received her first communion at 6 years old, her desire to console her mother had grown into a desire to console Jesus. She wrote, “My Jesus, I love You, and to please You, I resolve to obey You always.” She made continual sacrifices and offerings for Him, always humbling herself and drawing intimately close to Him in love. When she was 10 she became gravely ill with meningitis. She didn't complain, but rather wished she could suffer more so she could offer it to convert sinners and comfort her beloved Jesus. She died three months before her 11th birthday.
You can read more about her HERE.
