Guardian Angel II 04
Our girl, a little bored, starts batting at the rosary. Sacramentals like the rosary should be treated with respect - especially if they've been blessed. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, sacramentals both prepare us to receive the fruit of the Sacraments and sanctify different circumstances in our lives. They shouldn't be batted around like toys because they aren't toys - they are precious aids. But our girl hasn't considered this, and is absentmindedly playing around. Gabe becomes very serious when he catches her, and out of shock at his response, she quickly kisses the rosary "to make it better." She doesn't understand yet, but his response illicits her reverence (a good example of why we should be sure we are acting as Catholics at all times). Notice the Guardian Angel's facepalm. :)
The Rosary, although it is clearly Marian, is at its heart a Christ-centered prayer. When we pray the rosary, we meditate on the mysteries of the entirety of the Gospels and echo Mary's Magnificat. We contemplate the beauty of the life of Christ, the face of Christ, and the love of God through the eyes of Christ's own mother.
"Through the rosary the faithful receive abundant grace, as though from the very hands of the Mother of the Redeemer, " (Pope St. John Paul II, Rosarium Virginis Mariae).
This is a situation taken from my own life... before I took my faith seriously, so to speak. . . before the "faith of my fathers" became my own faith. It shocked me.
If you'd like a rosary, let me know and I will arrange to send one to you.

This shows how careless she is about her own faith, and how she has become comfortable that way. . . She stopped seeking Christ, and has begun seeking herself, so that her religion no longer matters, and she is comfortable in her faults.
