St. Louis de Montfort
On The Grapevine 07
St. Louis de Montfort was giving a retreat when some troublemakers at the bar across the street began a loud fight. He excused himself, marched out, and beat them up for interrupting. He impressed them, and they followed him back to the church to hear his lecture. St. Louis was a passionate priest and missionary, born in 1673. His father was known as the most violently tempered man in all of Brittany, and some of that fire could be found in St. Louis's zeal for the Church. However, he was famous for his devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the rosary, and these gentled him immensely. St. Louis de Montfort is most well known for his teaching on total consecration to Mary, and his works and life influenced many popes. It was nearly impossible to stop this man - he was a brilliant orator, passionate and joyful. He prayed continuously, loved the poor, lived in poverty and had great perseverance.
